Terms of Use

The terms for using the NewLaw.ai platform. In short: we are a software provider, not a law practice, and what we produce is information to help you prepare, not a substitute for engaging a lawyer.

Last updated: 2026-06-29

Who provides the service

The NewLaw.ai platform and website are provided by NewLaw.ai Pty Ltd (NewLaw.ai, we, us). We are a software provider. We are not a law practice, we do not provide legal representation ourselves, and we do not hold client trust money.

By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you are using the platform on behalf of a firm or organisation, you agree to them for that entity.

What the platform provides, and what it does not

The platform helps you get organised: guided intake, screeners, document tools and a plain-English summary of your matter. What it produces is AI-assisted information, reviewed by an admitted Australian solicitor. It is general information to help you understand your situation and prepare. It is not a substitute for engaging a lawyer, and you should not rely on it as a final legal position without a lawyer's review.

Tailored legal work, the conduct of your matter, and any costs agreement are between you and the law firm you engage. That firm acts for you under its own terms and is responsible for the legal services it provides and the fees it charges. NewLaw.ai is not a party to that relationship and does not charge you for legal work.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Please give us accurate information and keep it up to date. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed without your permission. You must be at least 18 years old to use the platform.

Acceptable use

When you use the platform, you agree not to:

  • Use it for anything unlawful, misleading or fraudulent.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to share, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Attempt to break, probe or disrupt the security or integrity of the service.
  • Rely on its output as a final legal position without a lawyer's review.
  • Resell or white-label the platform except under a written firm agreement with us.

We do not run paid-referral or claim-farming features of any kind. We never pay for, or accept payment for, referrals, and we never cold-approach people about injuries.

Your content

You keep ownership of the information and documents you put into the platform. You grant us a limited licence to host and process that content only so we can provide the service to you, including preparing your matter and, where you choose, sharing it with a firm you engage. We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy.

Our intellectual property

The platform, its software, design, brand and content (other than your content) belong to NewLaw.ai Pty Ltd or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the platform for its intended purpose while these terms apply. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or create derivative works from the platform except as the law allows.

Disclaimers

The platform is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. AI-assisted information may contain errors or omissions and must be reviewed by an admitted lawyer before you rely on it. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee or right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NewLaw.ai is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not responsible for the legal services or fees of any firm you engage.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms from time to time; when we do, we will revise the date below and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to let you know. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached. You can stop using the platform and close your account at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State.
